AL.PI. attains ISO 14021 and ISO 14067 certifications for its transparent and low environmental impact manufacturing

ALPI Certificazione iso 14067

Over recent years, AL.PI. has taken practical steps to make its sole manufacturing operations more sustainable, traceable and measurable.

It is a commitment that has now seen the new nEr+ sole receive twofold recognition from Bureau Veritas, a leading international certification body in the quality and environmental field: ISO 14021 Certification for the Environmental Claims and ISO 14067 Certification for the measurement and verification of the product’s carbon footprint.

These two new milestones, reached in July 2025, are testaments to AL.PI.’s commitment towards transforming sustainability into a structured, shared and verifiable process.

ISO 14021 Standard: transparency and verifiability of the environmental claims

ISO 14021 Certification concerns Environmental Claims (Type II) and defines the requirements with which a company must comply in order to report transparently the data on its own environmental performance. The standard requires that these claims be supported by verifiable, documented and traceable data, compiled and managed in accordance with specific internal procedures that are subject to regular checking by an independent third-party body.

In AL.PI.’s case, the verification operations concerned specifically the nEr+ sole, developed with up to 30% recycled material and weighing 20% less than traditional rubber. Bureau Veritas confirmed that the environmental claims relating to nEr+ have been drafted and reported in compliance with the requirements of the UNI EN ISO 14021:2021 standard. This recognition by Bureau Veritas authenticates the credibility and transparency of the information provided by AL.PI. to its clients and partners.

ISO 14067 Standard: certified measurement of the product carbon footprint

ISO 14067 Certification defines the principles and guidelines for the quantification and reporting of the product’s carbon footprint through its entire life cycle.

By means of an in-depth analysis of the production processes, AL.PI. is able to quantify the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions generated in the various phases of the life of the sole, “from cradle to grave”.

Bureau Veritas has verified the results of the analyses conducted and has issued certification confirming that these figures were obtained in compliance with the ISO 14067:2018 standard, thus ensuring the full transparency of the reported data.

A pathway on which we set out more than two years ago

The attainment of this certification is the fruit of more than two years of work, investments and in-house analyses, during which AL.PI. developed an internal management system that combines the monitoring of energy consumption, the traceability of materials, the management of waste and the measurement of the environmental impact of the internal processes.

The ISO 14021 and ISO 14067 certifications follow on from the ISO 14001 certification of AL.PI.’s  Environmental Management System (EMS), attained in January 2025, further consolidating the company’s manufacturing model, which is based on principles of environmental responsibility and continuous innovation.

Sustainable innovation to support the footwear production chain

For AL.PI., sustainability is both a competitive and a cultural factor. The new ISO 14021 and ISO 14067 certifications constitute a form of added value for all of the clients in the footwear sector who choose soles produced with low environmental impact materials, the manufacturing processes of which are certified by independent third-party bodies.

From patented technologies such as nEr+, based on the reutilization of production waste, all the way to the Commodo and OC System lines, AL.PI. continues to invest in the research and development of solutions that combine performance, comfort and environmental responsibility.

This is a further step towards a future in which quality, innovation and respect for the environment move forward together.
